Pacific Coast Maple is a fast growing true maple, which prospers in the fertile lowlands of the Pacific Northwest and is known for its uniform color and texture. Its color is pale pinkish-brown to almost white. Generally there is no marked difference between heartwood and sapwood. Its fine grain is similar to birch and cherry with respect to growth ring contrast.
Working Properties
It machines well and provides excellent workability. Pacific Coast Maple accepts all stains uniformly, and provides a good surface for enamel and paint.
Physical Properties
Pacific Coast Maple is in the medium range of densities, a range preferred by most furniture and cabinet manufacturers. It nails, screws and glues well. Its density allows it to resist damage during normal use during manufacturing, at the retail store and in final product usage.
Main Uses
Furniture, casegoods, cabinets, doors, interior moldings.
