Forest certification overview

All timberlands owned or managed by Weyerhaeuser worldwide are operated under environmental management systems registered to the ISO 14001 standard.

All North American timberlands are independently certified as meeting the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) standard or the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Sustainable Forest Management standard.

Manufacturing certification overview (as of June 2007)

All primary mills in the United States are independently certified as meeting the procurement provisions of the SFI standard. Primary mills are those that use logs or wood chips as their raw material. This includes mills which produce lumber, oriented strand board, plywood, TimberStrand®, Parallam®, paper and pulp.

All containerboard packaging plants in the United States are independently certified as meeting the label-use requirements for secondary manufacturing plants.

The i-joist manufacturing plants at Valdosta, Ga.; Evergreen, Ala.; and Natchitoches, La.; a TimberStrand mill at Deerwood, Minn.; and a Parallam mill at Colbert, Ga. are independently certified as meeting the SFI chain-of-custody standard.

Eight of our 13 primary mills in Canada are independently certified as meeting the chain-of-custody requirements of the CSA standard or the procurement provisions of the SFI standard.

Twenty-two of our manufacturing facilities have environmental management systems registered to the ISO 14001 standard.
