Utility Poles
Wood distribution and transmission poles—often called telephone poles or utility poles—help transmit and distribute electricity to homes and offices. Pilings and custom-cut pillars and posts are also used in residential and commercial building applications.
Weyerhaeuser's pole and piling operation in Wilbur, Ore., supplies the wood preserving industry with high-quality Douglas fir poles and pilings. The untreated pole lengths, 25 to 110 feet, in 5-foot increments, come in all standard sizes. Untreated false work pilings and structural columns range from 5 to 20 inches in diameter and up to 100 feet in length.
Quality is our number one priority and is built into our manufacturing process:
- Douglas fir trees are individually selected to produce the best poles.
- Automated conveyors and carts enable poles to be precision-peeled to deliver a smooth, shallow cut.
- A state-of-the-art automated classing system mechanically rotates poles for quick and easy inspection.
- Mechanized handling minimizes damage. An asphalt-surfaced yard keeps wood cleaner so fewer foreign particles enter the treatment process.
- Poles and piling meet or exceed all applicable ANSI and/or ASTM specifications. When applicable, individual utility district specifications are also met.
- Custom lengths and metric sizes are produced upon request.
Our products are ready to be delivered to the treating facility of your choice. We can ship by truck, rail car or container cargo.
