Weyerhaeuser cares about the health and well-being of you and your family. That's why our Health Connection programs offer the resources, information, and support you and your family need to stay healthy, make healthy lifestyle choices, and use health care services as informed consumers.
Our Health Connection programs-Personal Health Resources Website, Employee and Family Assistance, FreshStart Tobacco Cessation, and Worksite Health and Wellness-are designed to help you:
- Relate health and lifestyle choices to the cost of health care, productivity and safety, and overall enjoyment of life.
- Understand how the resources are integrated and complement each other to support a comprehensive approach to healthy living.
- Access resources that can help identify a need to change a lifestyle choice and get support for that change.
Weyerhaeuser currently offers four extended health care (EHC) options as part of the Advantages flexible benefit program.

Regardless of family status or the extended health care option chosen, if eligible out-of-pocket expenses exceed $1,500 in any year, all further eligible expenses in that year are reimbursed at 100%.
The company currently provides eligible employees with enough credits to purchase Option 3. If other options are selected, excess credits can be applied toward the purchase of other benefit coverage, paid out (in cash less tax), or directed to the Health Spending Account (PERC) plan.
You, your spouse (married or 12-month common-law relationship), and dependent children (up to age 21 or age 25 if a full-time student) will be eligible to participate on your first day of employment.
Employees may contribute to a Health Spending Account, known under the Advantages benefit plan as a Personal Expense Reimbursement Credits (PERC) Plan:
- Employees can direct flex credits to their accounts to reimburse eligible health and dental expenses using pre-tax dollars.
- The PERC Plan covers a wide array of health and dental benefits, limited only by the amount of credits in your PERC Plan and by what the Canada Revenue Agency deems eligible for income tax purposes.
Weyerhaeuser currently offers four dental care options as part of the Advantages flexible benefit program.

To help provide financial protection in the event of loss, Weyerhaeuser offers group life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for you and your family.

Life insurance and/or AD&D coverage are also available for your spouse and children. The company provides enough flexible credits to purchase Option 1 coverage.
There are no flex options under the Short-Term Disability Plan. This benefit becomes effective automatically on the first day of your active employment. Short-term disability payments are determined using your base pay in effect at the time you become disabled. The plan pays a benefit for up to a maximum of six months, and the percentage of pay received is based on your length of service with the company.
To help guard against the financial burden of income loss associated with a long-term illness or injury, Weyerhaeuser offers the Long-Term Disability (LTD) Plan.
There are three options for LTD coverage in the Advantages flexible benefit program:

The company provides eligible employees with enough credits to purchase Option 1. If other options are selected, excess credits can be applied toward the purchase of other benefit coverage, paid out (in cash less tax), or directed to the Health Spending Account (PERC) plan.
Anytime you travel on company business, this insurance covers you against accidents that result in an eligible loss. In the case of such a loss, you or your beneficiary will receive payment from the plan. You are automatically enrolled in this plan on your first day of work.
Time to rest and relax. It's a critical part of staying focused and energized in the workplace. Our full-time employees receive annual paid vacation based on length of employment up to seven weeks per year. For part-time employees, vacation time is prorated based on the hours you work.
Weyerhaeuser offers the Flexible Pension Plan (FPP) to provide you with ongoing income after you retire from the company. You automatically participate in the FPP starting on your first day of work and are fully vested in a future benefit after two years of continuous service. The plan is provided at no cost to you.
In addition, employees may contribute before-tax contributions toward enhancing their pension (Flex Pension Account).
- Weyerhaeuser will match 50% of employee payroll deduction contributions to the Flex Pension Account up to a maximum of 5% of base pay each pay period. There is immediate vesting on employee contributions and five-year vesting on company contributions.
- Employees choose among seven investment options for allocation of their contributions.
Weyerhaeuser offers you additional options for saving for your retirement to ensure you and your family are well cared for as you get older:
The Investment Growth Plan (IGP) offers an immediate vesting of your contributions and investment earnings and vesting for a company match after five years of continuous service, upon retirement, or upon leaving employment at Weyerhaeuser as a result of death or total and permanent disability. Your contributions attract a 50% company match (up to 5% of your base pay for all savings plans combined), and you may contribute between 1% and 10% of your base pay.
The Group Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) offers immediate vesting of your contributions and investment earnings and vesting for a company match after five years of continuous service, upon retirement, or upon leaving employment at Weyerhaeuser as a result of death or total and permanent disability. Your contributions attract a 50% company match (up to 5% of your base pay for all savings plans combined), and you may contribute up to your maximum registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) contribution amount each year.
After you retire, Weyerhaeuser continues to provide you and your eligible dependents with quality Extended Health Care, Retiree Life Insurance, and assistance with the payment of premiums for Provincial Health Care. Retirees share the cost of monthly Extended Health Care premiums based on their length of service.
You are eligible for retiree benefit coverage as early as age 55 if you have at least 10 years of continuous service when you end your employment with Weyerhaeuser.
