Current Position
I use proprietary design tools and software to produce framing layouts for floor, roof, and floor systems, as well as produce design calculations for single structural members. In addition to drafting and design services, I am a team lead where I serve as a mentor to a number of associates in the business.
I discovered Weyerhaeuser at a National Society of Black Engineers job fair in Dallas, TX. On that day, I spoke with a number of enthusiastic Weyerhaeuser associates about a variety wood products and I have been hooked ever since.
What do you enjoy about coming to work each day at WY?
I really love the fact the Weyerhaeuser cares about my safety as well as the safety of people that I work with. It also helps that everyone in the company is on a first name basis. I enjoy working with a team of individuals united for various common goals. There’s no “I” in team or in Weyerhaeuser.
What inspires you at work?
In our business, we use the team structure to execute company goals. This team environment makes work much more enjoyable because Weyerhaeuser only selects and retains extraordinary individuals. Even on days when team spirits may not be high, Weyerhaeuser has support services in place to help associates through challenging times.
What does Lead, Perform, Invent, Grow mean to you?
This phrase is a simple phrase presenting the formula to breaking records. To break records you must lead the pack, perform at a level above the rest, invent new ways of completing tasks, and grow at a rate in which you have to set new standards/records for yourself.
