Weyerhaeuser cares about the health and well-being of you and your family. That's why our Health Connection programs offer the resources, information, and support you and your family need to stay healthy, make healthy lifestyle choices, and use health care services as informed consumers.
Our Health Connection programs-Personal Health Resources Website, Personal Health Coaching, Employee Assistance Program, FreshStart Tobacco Cessation, Worksite Health and Wellness, and Weight Watchers Weight Management Program- are designed to help you:
- Relate health and lifestyle choices to the cost of health care, productivity and safety, and overall enjoyment of life.
- Understand how the resources are integrated and complement each other to support a comprehensive approach to healthy living.
- Access resources that can help identify a need to change a lifestyle choice and get support for that change.
Weyerhaeuser offers two preferred provider organization (PPO) medical plan options: the Comprehensive Medical Plan and Medical Plus Plan. Both are Blue Cross Blue Shield plans administered by Premera Blue Cross. Depending on where you live, additional PPO plan and health maintenance organization (HMO) plan options, such as the CIGNA HMO, may be available. In addition, Comprehensive Medical Plan coverage is available for eligible domestic partners and their dependents.
You share in the cost of medical care by paying an annual deductible, a percentage of the cost for most medical services, a co-payment for prescription drugs, and possibly a monthly contribution.
You may enroll yourself, your spouse, and eligible dependents in a medical plan within your first 31 days of work or during an annual open enrollment period. Plan coverage is effective on the first day of the month following one month of continuous employment or on January 1 following open enrollment.
Employees who enroll in the Medical Plus Plan may also open a health savings account (HSA), which allows you to save money to pay for certain medical expenses now and during retirement. This special interest-bearing account is funded by an annual contribution from the company and monthly pre-tax contributions from you. The year-end HSA balance rolls over to the next year, allowing your account to continue to grow over time.
The Weyerhaeuser High Option Plus Dental Plan is designed to provide you and your dependents with quality dental benefits at a reasonable cost. The plan, which is administered by CIGNA Dental, pays for preventive and diagnostic services and helps you pay for basic and major dental services and orthodontia.
You share in the cost of dental care by paying a monthly contribution, an annual deductible, and a percentage of the cost for dental services.
You may enroll yourself, your spouse or eligible domestic partner, and eligible dependent children within your first 31 days of work or during an annual open enrollment period. Dental plan coverage begins on the first day of the month following one month of continuous employment or on January 1 following open enrollment.
The health care, special purpose, and dependent care flexible spending accounts, which are administered by WageWorks, let you set aside a portion of your pay before taxes to pay for certain medical, dental, hearing, and vision care expenses and dependent care expenses. You are responsible for spending all the money you set aside for the plan year, which is January 1 through December 31.
You may enroll in a flexible spending account within your first 31 days of work or during an annual open enrollment period. Coverage begins on the first day of the month following one month of continuous employment or on January 1 following open enrollment. The money you contribute to a flexible spending account is deducted in equal amounts from your regular paychecks throughout the year.
To help provide financial protection in the event of loss, Weyerhaeuser offers basic and supplemental group life insurance for you and your family through Aetna.
- Basic life insurance automatically covers you after one month of continuous employment. You do not have to enroll in coverage.
- Voluntary group life insurance is available to supplement your basic life coverage. Spouse group life and child group life insurance is available for your spouse and children. You must enroll to have coverage.
Weyerhaeuser automatically enrolls you in the Short-Term Disability Plan on the first of the month following 90 days of employment. This plan enables you to receive a portion of your base pay for up to 26 weeks while you recuperate from a non-work-related injury or illness.
To help guard against the financial burden of income loss associated with a long-term illness or injury, Weyerhaeuser offers the Long-Term Disability Plan through Unum. The plan enables you to receive a benefit while recuperating from a work-related or non-work-related injury or illness that requires more than 180 days for recovery.
You are eligible to enroll during your first 31 days of work or during an open enrollment period. If you enroll during open enrollment, you must provide evidence of insurability and a medical exam may be required.
Coverage begins on the first day of the month following one month of continuous employment or on January 1 if you enroll during open enrollment.
Anytime you travel on company business, this insurance covers you against accidents that result in an eligible loss. In the case of such a loss, you or your beneficiary will receive payment from the plan. You are automatically enrolled in this plan on your first day of work.
Helping to provide peace of mind is one way we support our employees. Long-term care insurance provides coverage for employees and their extended family members, including parents, for the cost of personal care services for chronic care needs, disabilities, or cognitive impairment, such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease. This optional insurance is provided by major national carriers at discounted rates.
Time to rest and relax. It's a critical part of staying focused and energized in the workplace. Our full-time employees receive annual paid vacation based on length of employment up to five weeks per year. For part-time employees, vacation time is prorated based on the hours you work.
The Weyerhaeuser 401(k) Plan, administered by The Vanguard Group, is designed to help you meet your long-term financial goals, including financial security during retirement, through a variety of investment options. You may contribute a percentage of your eligible pay on a pre-tax basis to the plan. The company contributes 70 cents for each dollar you contribute, up to 7% of your eligible pay.
Weyerhaeuser offers a pension plan to provide you with ongoing income after you retire from the company. You automatically participate in the plan starting on your first day of work and are fully vested in a future benefit after five years of vesting service. The plan is provided at no cost to you.
Families are important to us. We offer adoption assistance to help offset the cost of legally adopting a child. You are eligible to receive adoption assistance after you have worked for the company at least six months, and the benefit is provided at no cost to you.
After you retire, Weyerhaeuser continues to provide you and your eligible dependents with quality medical coverage under the Comprehensive Medical Plan for Retirees. This Blue Cross Blue Shield preferred provider organization (PPO) plan is administered by Premera Blue Cross. In addition, Weyerhaeuser continues your basic life insurance to help protect you and your family financially during retirement.
You are eligible for these coverages at retirement, beginning at age 55 if you have 10 years of vesting service and are eligible for the Weyerhaeuser Salaried Pension Plan or at age 65 with any amount of service.
