Bonsai Collection

Elegance and serenity. Drama and passion. Bonsai is an ancient Asian art form that finds root in human emotion. At Weyerhaeuser, we have dedicated a spectacular setting as the home for our Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection.

The collection is an outdoor museum of living Asian art located on our corporate campus. It features 60 outstanding bonsai from six Pacific Rim nations, elegantly displayed in a woodland setting. Visitors will enjoy miniaturized, living trees shaped by artists to portray scenic large trees in nature. Some bonsai create a vision of a serene, benign environment, while others suggest the drama of trees clinging to sheer mountainsides or windswept rocky shores.

Within our garden courtyard, you'll find a kiosk that includes a video display and a literature rack with information on Weyerhaeuser, forestry, and other topics of interest. We invite you to explore our gardens and the wonder of bonsai.

Did You Know?

The word bonsai is derived from two Chinese characters meaning a tree planted in a shallow container. The word is pronounced "bone-sigh."

Bonsai is an art form composed partly of horticulture and partly of three-dimensional design. To qualify as a bonsai, the growing miniature tree must be both a representation of nature and a creative expression.
