Work Environment
At Weyerhaeuser, you can choose from a wide range of work environments. These include:
Corporate Headquarters:
Weyerhaeuser is based south of Seattle in Federal Way, Wash. The corporate campus includes our Headquarters building, Technology Center and other office buildings in an urban, wooded setting. This is also the site of the renowned Bonsai and Rhododendron Gardens. Weyerhaeuser's Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection was created in 1989 to honor Weyerhaeuser Company's trade relations with Pacific Rim nations and as a tribute to the Washington state centennial. It now stands as one of the Northwest's major cultural attractions and is open to the public year-round, free of charge.
The Rhododendron Species Foundation owns and operates a botanical garden next to the Bonsai Collection. The rhododendron garden features 6,000 plants and 400 species of rhododendrons on 24 acres.
Our employees focus on providing efficient, effective support to the businesses that serve our customers. Employees in this region work in a variety of roles to support our businesses. They interact on a first-name basis in a friendly, casual environment. "Open" offices encourage teamwork and communication.
Manufacturing Sites:
Weyerhaeuser's manufacturing sites are scattered across the United States and Canada. Many are located in rural or suburban areas with affordable housing, low crime rates and a sense of community pride. Others are located in major metropolitan areas.
At our manufacturing locations, everyone works together to meet customer needs and shareholder expectations. Priorities include ensuring a safe work environment, reducing costs and improving quality. Work hours and pay rates vary by location, position and type of operation.
Sales/Distribution Centers:
Some Weyerhaeuser businesses maintain regional sales or distribution centers across North America. Priorities at these offices include ensuring timely delivery of customer orders and responsiveness to customer needs.
Community Involvement
Weyerhaeuser takes pride in being a responsible corporate citizen. This commitment is shown in hundreds of big and small ways each year across the communities where Weyerhaeuser employees work, live and play. To learn more, visit our Citizenship section or the Weyerhaeuser Foundation page.
A few examples of our community commitment include:
United Way Support:
Weyerhaeuser employees are generous United Way contributors. The company also supports United Way by providing "loaned executives" who leave their Weyerhaeuser jobs to spend three months as full-time fundraisers for United Way. (The employees continue to receive their full Weyerhaeuser salaries and benefits.)
Matching Gifts:
Through its Matching Gifts Program, the Weyerhaeuser foundation matches qualifying donations made by employees to public schools, colleges or universities.
Weyerhaeuser Active Volunteer Employees (WAVE):
This company-wide program fosters volunteerism and supports employee's hard work by providing a framework for employees, retirees, families and friends who want to pledge time, energy and skills to their communities. The Weyerhaeuser Foundation sponsors this program and contributes cash awards of $1,000 to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations with active Weyerhaeuser volunteers.
