Information Technology Internships

In an ever-changing world of technology advancements, Weyerhaeuser needs your IT education and expertise to stay ahead of the pack. Our IT intern program is almost 30 years old, and it's the largest intern program in the company. We offer continuous development and training opportunities that allow you to gain experience with enterprise software and hardware systems. As valued members of friendly, supportive and professional teams, interns gain professional experience with while contributing to significant projects. Outside of hosting great assignments, we also manage to have fun through social and networking opportunities.

Types of Assignments

IT Interns work in a variety of IT areas that fit their skills and interests. The types of work activities available may include planning, analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, documentation, delivery and support in several different parts of the IT organization such as:

  • Enterprise Systems
  • E-Business
  • Business Applications
  • Manufacturing Systems
Size of program Approximately 30 interns per year
Length Six to eight months
Start dates January or June
Locations Most intern/co-op positions are based in the corporate headquarters region in Federal Way, WA.
Majors recruited
  • Information Systems
  • Computer Science
Academic level Undergraduate, Masters, MBA
Minimum GPA Strong preference for 3.0 cumulative overall (on a 4.0 scale).
Other Qualifications
  • Minimum sophomore standing, seniors must be non-graduating at time of internship.
  • Permanent right to work in U.S. or Canada.
  • All Weyerhaeuser positions require the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Professional development

IT interns meet regularly for activities, such as tours, training, speakers and films. Each intern has a supervisor who focuses on the intern's job duties and performance, plus a mentor who pays attention to the intern's professional development. IT professionals who were previously interns often help current interns make the transition from school to work.

Application due dates

October 28 for assignments beginning in January; February 20 for assignments beginning in June.
